Weight Loss Journal Prompts: What’s Holding You Back? Have you ever explored your own issues of perfectionism or shame? The idea of journaling can be intimidating. There is so much self-reflection, digging deep to find out what’s holding you back from weight loss success. It can feel like too much work for some people!

But the truth is that it will only take a few minutes each day to use weight loss journal prompts and figure out what is holding you back. This could be the missing link to your sustainable weight loss. Let’s find that inner strength you need to succeed at losing weight.

The power of journaling to explore your deeper issues can have an extremely positive impact on weight loss goals.

Here are some benefits of journaling:

  1. Creates intentional space for self-reflection.
  2. It helps manage stress.
  3. Increases self-awareness.
  4. Creates a foundation for goal setting and prioritizing.
  5. Helps you discover your true motivation behind weight loss goals.

As you can see, there are definitely benefits of journaling. My favorite is the increased awareness you gain.

There are two types of self-awareness. External and internal.

External self-awareness is being aware of how others see you. Internal self-awareness is understanding your own thoughts, feelings and desires. When you have both types of awareness, it can improve life in so many ways!

Internal self-awareness is about understanding your inner state, watching yourself think and feel without judgment or criticism. Are you aware of what makes you happy? What triggers anger in you? Do you know how to calm down when needed? Self-awareness helps you identify the needs you have and how to get them met.

Too often, unmet needs will lead to some type of emotional eating or self-sabotage. Know your own thoughts and feelings so that you can verbalize them and care for them. A journal can do that for you.

Your journal is your sounding board. It’s where you can write down your thoughts and feelings without judgment. Then, read them later to see how they make you feel.

As you write, you can also start to identify your blocks, negative beliefs, and patterns that have hindered your success. Do you want to know what your unmet needs are? Are you aware of the patterns that constantly bring you back to square one? I’m happy to share some weight loss journal prompts with you!
